MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - With Christmas only a little over two weeks away, Santa is making his rounds to see all the little boys and girls around the Upper Peninsula.
Saturday, Santa Claus left his North Pole headquarters for a visit at Donckers in downtown Marquette. This is his fourth year coming to the restaurant to hear everyone's wish lists for the upcoming holiday.
"It's always a fun time for Santa because the kids always surprise me with what they want," Santa explains.
Santa's helper, Elfred, was even on hand giving out candy to all those who came to sit on Santa's lap. The restaurant offered 50 percent off kids’ meals for the day as an extra incentive to come visit the holly, jolly fellow.
"Santa is here at Donckers today because Santa has to see all the children, and when I say all the children, every age because you never outgrow childhood. But Santa comes with the help of Elfred to ask kids what they want, and it's always fun here, right Elfred?!" Santa says. "That's right!" exclaims Elfred.
This isn't Santa's only visit to Donckers. He will be back on Sunday, Dec. 17th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to hear children's Christmas lists one more time before the holiday. Donckers will again run the half-off kids' meals promotion in the restaurant. The store will have a promotion as well - if you spend $50 in the store, you get $5 off a future visit.
