Recall process started against Garden and Fairbanks Township officials

By  |

DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - Steps to possibly recall several Garden and Fairbanks Township officials have been taken.

The rocky controversy over wind turbines in the two townships has some voters asking for a recall of Garden Township Supervisor Morgan Tatrow, Fairbanks Township Supervisor Ron Collins, Clerk Kathryn Denholm and Trustee James Dalgord.

The reason stated on the recall submissions claimed each person had taken official actions in violation of conflict of interest laws.

According to recall procedures in Delta County once the recall has been submitted a clarity hearing must be held within 10 days. The hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the Delta County Probate Courtroom. At the hearing the recall wording must be approved before a petition to recall can begin circulating.

Once approved the petition must be submitted within 180 days with signatures from 25 percent of all the votes cast for governor in that jurisdiction during the previous governor election.

If there are sufficient valid signatures a special recall election will be scheduled for the next regular election date.

TV6 & FOX UP will keep you updated with how the possible recall progresses.
