IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) Packerland Broadband in Iron Mountain announced the launch of its gigabit-speed broadband internet in Crystal Falls Monday. The new UltraConnect service is the first to be offered by a rural cable provider.
The company is a part of CCI Systems and will begin installing this faster broadband speed Jan. 16. At launch, the internet service will only be available in the city of Crystal Falls. With a speed that's more than 40 times the average throughout the state, the city will be the fastest community in the Upper Peninsula.
"We do not believe that there's any other providers out there playing with this technology, or deploying this technology, in local markets, especially rural markets," Packerland Vice President and General Manager Cory Heigl said. "It's putting the flag in the map; they're gonna be the first gigabit community in Upper Michigan, certainly."
Packerland provides services to over 50 communities throughout Wisc. and the U.P.
