One injured in personal injury snowmobile accident in Forsyth Township

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Forsyth Township Police Department is investigating a personal injury snowmobile accident occurring Saturday at around 2:15 p.m. on Trail 32, approximately 5.5 miles west of Trail 33 in Forsyth Township.

A single snowmobile was heading eastbound on Trail 32 when the driver was unable to negotiate a sharp left turn on the icy trail. The snowmobile left the trail to the right, dropped down a ditch, striking the other side of the ditch, and causing the snowmobile to vault over and the driver to be ejected off the sled. The driver struck several small trees before landing.

The driver was transported from the scene by personnel from the Forsyth Township Fire and Police Departments to meet with an EMS unit from U.P. Health System Marquette and then transported to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The Forsyth Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by Forsyth Township Fire Department, U.P. Health System EMS and the Forsyth Township ACTIVE unit.
