North Central's nation-leading basketball win streak ends

RAPID RIVER, Mich. (WLUC) - The 84-game winning streak for the North Central Jets boys basketball team was snapped Thursday night.

Rapid River beat North Central 65-43, ending the longest winning streak in the nation. It was the Jets' second game of the 2017-18 season.

North Central hadn't lost since 2014. Six seniors graduated last year after the Jets won a third-straight Class D State Title.

North Central holds the Michigan record for most consecutive wins in boys basketball. Last season the Jets broke a 59-year-old record 65-game win streak set by Chassell.

Congratulations to the Jets and head coach Adam Mercier on a historic run.
