No injuries in house fire near Baraga-Houghton county line

BARAGA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - One person escaped a fire Tuesday evening near the Baraga-Houghton county line.

According to the Michigan State Police Calumet Post, a house on US-41 and a nearby side-by-side caught fire around 6:15 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Information about the extent of the damage was not immediately available.

Police say the one person in the home at the time was checked by EMS but did not seek treatment.

Police say multiple agencies were on the scene Tuesday night, including the Keweenaw Bay Fire Department, Baraga Fire Department, L'Anse Fire Department, Chassell Fire Department, L'Anse Village Police and the Michigan DNR.
