GWINN, Mich. (WLUC) - On Wednesday, March 7th, Forsyth Township Police and Fire were dispatched to 55 E Riling Lot 27, in Gwinn, for a report of a structure fire with an occupant inside.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject trying to drive away from the residence. It was determined that no other occupants were inside the residence.
An investigation into the fire revealed that the fire was believed to be caused by the production of meth inside the home.
The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team was called to the scene. Further investigation uncovered evidence that meth production had gone on at the residence the same day and evidence of past meth production was uncovered.
31-year-old Brad Michael Overly of Gwinn was identified as the subject trying to leave and was taken into custody.
Overly has been charged with Operating/Maintaining Laboratory involving Methamphetamine, which is a 20 year felony.
Overly was lodged at the Marquette County Jail.
