HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Houghton County reelected Sheriff Brian McLean on Tuesday night.
McLean defeated Democrat Derek Poyhonen to keep the position he has held for the last 20 years. McLean’s goals are to tackle the ongoing drug issue and to find other ways to help with the budget.
”Our focus is going to be on drug enforcement,” said McLean. “Another challenge law enforcement has across the country are dwindling budgets the money cutting since so we try to be as aggressive as we can for seeking out funds.”
Mclean has been the Houghton County Sheriff for 20 years, and says he has no plans to retire any time soon.
