MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The city of Marquette’s household rubbish drop-off site is open for the season with new hours. To keep up with demand, they've added an additional day each week.

The site is intended for disposal of household items too big for curbside pickup. The amount that can be collected there is limited by the department of environmental quality to 200 cubic yards of rubbish per day.

"The only recourse we have to deal with it is to add more days, not longer days, not more volume on the site, we just don't have that ability, so we're trying to ease the pressure by extending the days out in the week, we've added an additional day each week," said Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli.

The compost site is open on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The rubbish site is open Mondays and Wednesdays also from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, rubbish can also be dropped off on the second Saturday of the month from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
