ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - MDOT recently released their 2018 construction map for Michigan where the U.P. will see more than 20 road and bridge projects this "construction season."
Some of the major projects include a bridge replacement on M-28 over Jackson Creek near Wakefield causing a long detour June through August.
US-41 will be resurfaced in both Baraga and in Marquette County where an alternating lane will be open.
9.5 miles of M-95 will be reconstructed May through August from Channing to the Marquette County line.
I-75 near Sault Ste. Marie will also see some reconstructing with a roundabout for their 350th anniversary.
"We've been starting to get more funding through the funding legislation that was passed a couple years ago," said Dan Weingarten, the MDOT communications representative for the Superior Region. "That funding is starting to ramp up now, so over the summer and the course of the next few summers, we hope to be seeing more activity too with more funds and much needed repairs."
