Local man releases book on the 'haunted' buildings of Marquette

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A new book highlighting many of the areas that are claimed to be haunted around Marquette was released Wednesday night at the Marquette Regional History Center.

Tyler Tichelaar's 'Haunted Marquette: Ghost Stories from the Queen City' features many iconic locations that are in the book like the Landmark Inn or the old orphanage. Many tales surround these buildings and more like them.

A total of 40 different stories are contained within this historical collection.

“I tried to discern which stories might have some vestige of truth to them, which ones were just urban myths,” said Tichelaar. “I did a lot of research on the history of the different buildings; people that died there tragically, that could be the person haunting the building; and just trying to get to the truth.”

A book signing took place after a presentation featuring stories within the book. A portion of book sales went back to the history center. If you missed the release, you can get a copy at the Marquette Regional History Center.
