HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Children in Hancock had the chance to meet a Michigan author today.
Children's book author and illustrator Leslie Helakoski read two of her books at North Wind Books this morning.
One book told the story of three cowardly chickens overcoming their fears.
"I think bringing authors and illustrators in to talk to kids is really important because it inspires them to read and it inspires them to write themselves. I'm still inspired by other writers when I see them. It inspires them to keep writing and telling stories," says Helakoski.
The story hour is one of a four part series at North Wind Books.
Each week a different guest reads themed books to children.
The events are free and open to the public.
Events begin at 11 a.m. each Monday through July 31.
