Lighthouse property plans ready to go before Marquette City Commission

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Plans for the lighthouse property in Marquette could soon be before the City Commission. City staff have been working on the plans for months.

The estimated cost is between 1.6 and 2.25 million dollars over several years. They've also come up with a priorities list for the 20 different projects within the plan.

The work would include relocating the bike path in that area, adding parking, and rehabilitating several buildings including the lighthouse.

"We hired an outside consultant to go through everything, to assess all the buildings, assess the property, they made their recommendation to us, we've had two work sessions with the commission to explain what they are," said Marquette City Manager Mike Angeli. "We think it's a viable plan, it's a reasonable plan, but we also understand that it needs to be something that the public wants."

The plans will be introduced to the City Commission during their next regular meeting on the January 29.
