MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - After the Hockeyville USA 5K on Saturday, many traded in their running shoes for dress shoes and headed to the Hockeyville USA Red Carpet Gala at the Marquette Commons.
The event was open to the public, with tickets purchased in advance, and was attended by around 250 people. The gala offered a fun night of dancing, auctions, food, and drinks.
Not only was the event a celebration of Marquette being named Kraft Hockeyville USA, but it was also a way to raise some extra money for Lakeview Arena.
"It's great, the money Kraft gave us was awesome, and it's going to go a long way, but also I think with a big facility like Lakeview, you can obviously use more money," said Doug Garrow, the Chairman for the Kraft Hockeyville USA local organizing committee. "We're just trying to capitalize on the excitement going around the Lakeview Arena, and we want to continue to build it and to try bring some more passion into the facility."
Attendees were given a commemorative Hockeyville USA hockey puck and were able to take their pictures on the red carpet as they arrived.
