Ill teachers cause Tahquamenon Area Schools to cancel Monday classes

NEWBERRY, Mich. (WLUC) - Tahquamenon Area Schools canceled classes Monday due to illness.

According to superintendent Stacy Price, it's the district's teaching staff that's primarily affected by illness right now. There weren't enough substitutes to cover classes Monday. Price says some teachers have been diagnosed with influenza A and will be out for the entire week.

Price says the plan is to have classes Tuesday, but a decision will be made Monday evening.

Price says district custodial staff is disinfecting schools more than normal Monday, with an emphasis on bathrooms and water fountains.
