MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Young professional groups from across the U.P. congregated in the Landmark Inn Friday morning.

This event was part of the 40 below of Marquette County to encourage networking and sharing creative ideas. Part of this mixer included an appearance by Governor Rick Snyder where he shared a few remarks on his confidence in the younger generation.

"It can't just be the old guard putting in new plans into place. We need people that are at the table that are young and are going to implement them 10, 20 years down the road" said Alex Kofsky, Vice President for 40 Below of Marquette County Young Professionals.

"I think there is some wonderful ideas. I learned about 'Plaidurday' for example, one of the exciting things I've heard about up here. Let's build on this. Let's do it in the context of how the U.P. can work together to promote this as part of a broader Michigan strategy" said Governor Snyder.

Governor Snyder says he had the opportunity to speak to many of the young professionals and hear their thoughts and concerns on various topics.
