ISPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The weather might be chilly but that wont stop some fat tire bike enthusiasts from racing Saturday January 6. The Frostbite Challenge is coming to Ishpeming.
The event is comprised of a few different races, including a half hour race and an hour long race. It's being held in Ishpeming on one of the U.P. Cross Cycling Club members property. The race is open to anyone with a snow bike that has tires at least 3.7 inches wide.
"Snowbiking is huge in Marquette County we've got great trails, great systems that are wonderfully groomed," said Tara Laase-McKinney, VP of U.P. Cross Cycling Club. "We've got a lot of different organizations that come together to help groom them and we really appreciate these organizations so we do like to give back to them as well and we like to have an additional way to have fun on your fat tire bike or your snowbike in the winter."
The races get started at noon. They take place at 505 County Road POS in Ishpeming. The cost is $10. Money raised goes back to helping keep trails in Marquette County groomed and to help pay for future events.
