Forsyth Townhip man charged with animal abuse and domestic assault, arraigned in court

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Kerwin Sanchez was arraigned Friday in Marquette County District Court.

He's charged with domestic assault, inferring with electronic communications, and cruelty to animals.

On Thursday, the Forsyth Township Police Department was called to Jupiter Street in K.I. Sawyer for a domestic violence incident.

After investigating, police arrested Kerwin Sanchez, 21.
Officials say, Sanchez caused serious injuries to the family pet. A female victim was assaulted while trying to stop Sanchez from harming the pet.

Charges will be forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office for Domestic Assault, Animal Cruelty and Interfering with an Electronic Device.

The pet was brought to the Gwinn-Sawyer Veterinary Clinic where it will receive care and treatment for its injuries.

Sanchez remains lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

The Forsyth Township Police were assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, the Gwinn-Sawyer Veterinary Clinic and UPAWS.
