Five people arrested on drug-related charges in Manistique

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) - On Thursday, Feb. 8, Manistique Public Safety Officers in conjunction with Schoolcraft County Sheriff Deputies and Agents from the Schoolcraft County 93rd District Court served felony drug arrest warrants on four people living in Manistique as a result of a six-month ongoing investigation by Public Safety and the Sheriff's Department involving the trafficking, sale and illegal use of narcotics in the city and Schoolcraft County. Investigators were also assisted by Michigan Department of Human Services with the removal and safekeeping of a child from the home of one of the arrested persons.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Katy Marie McGinnis, and was charged on two counts of the delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance, where the controlled substance of Suboxone was delivered, a seven year felony and/or $10,000. McGinnis was also charged as a habitual offender, second offense notice. McGinnis was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail with a $250,000 cash or surety bond.

Officers also arrested 43-year-old Shane David Henry, and was charged on one count of the delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance, where the controlled substance of Suboxone was delivered, a seven year felony and/or $10,000. Henry was also charged as a habitual offender, fourth offense notice. Henry was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail with a $500,000 cash or surety bond.

Officers then arrested 47-year-old Daniel Joe Baker, and was charged on two counts. His first count was the delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance, delivering less than 50 grams of a mixture containing the controlled substance Vicodin, and 20 year felony and/or $25,000. His second count was the delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance, where the controlled substance of Suboxone was delivered, a seven year felony and/or $10,000. Baker was also charged as a offender, third offense notice. Baker was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail with a $500,000 cash or surety bond.

Officers then effected the arrest of 27-year-old Dimitri Mishko, and was charged on one count of the delivery and manufacture of a controlled substance, where the controlled substance of Suboxone was delivered, a seven year felony and/or $10,000. Mishko was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail with a $250,000 cash or surety bond.

During the investigation, officers also arrested 26-year-old Angie Jean Gwaltney for a felony of the delivery of methamphetamine on Nov. 21, 2017, after a buy/bust operation conducted by Manistique Public Safety and the Manistique Sheriff's Department. Gwaltney remains in the Schoolcraft County Jail and awaits further criminal proceedings in Circuit Court.

McGinnis, Henry, Baker and Mishko were all arraigned before Judge Mark Luoma of the Schoolcraft County 93rd District Court at 3:00 p.m. on Feb. 8. All of those arrested's bonds were continued, and all were remanded back into custody of the Sheriff's Department.

The next scheduled court date will be on Feb. 28, for preliminary examination proceedings in the 93rd District Court.
