NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) Local elementary students got a healthy kick off to summer Thursday.
Fourth graders at Lakeview Elementary took part in Field Day.
The students tried their hands at bean bag toss, long-jump, hurdles, monkey bars as well as other activities.
Parent volunteers were on hand to help students keep track of their results.
The day is devoted to encouraging kids to stay active, and of course have some fun too.
"I've started this to show them that exercising is fun and to celebrate the end of the year and have them trying different events checking different types of their fitness levels." said P.E. Teacher Lisa Bigalk.
Field day lasted from 9:30 a.m. till 11 a.m.
