ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - The Escanaba Municipal Beach is closed Thursday because of unacceptable water quality conditions.
The Delta County Health Department found high levels of E. Coli in the water and have closed down the beach for at least 24 hours.
It is unknown what caused the high levels of E. Coli," said the city's recreation director. It could be a number of things from the rain we've been getting to the goose poop near the beach.
In a press release, the city's recreation director says testing revealed the water has unacceptable surface water total body contact standard readings. The Delta County Health Department will test the water again Friday, and the beach will reopen when levels are acceptable.
