'Do it for Daniel' to be shown Sunday in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The story of an Ishpeming High School athlete who battled depression and ultimately took his own life will be shared again this weekend.

"Do it for Daniel" is a documentary that tells the story of Daniel Olson. The 75-minute minute production will be shown this Sunday at W.C. Peterson Auditorium at Ishpeming High School at 4 p.m.

The documentary premiered last August to a packed crowd in Ishpeming. Since then, Daniel's father and head coach has shown it to 15 schools.

"We found out when we we've showed it at some high schools, there's a couple questions that kids would have so now I speak a little bit before, I speak a little bit after, just to kind of tie things in," said Jeff Olson. "Explain the whats and the whys."

There is no cost to attend Sunday. Donations will be accepted to help pay for trips to schools to show the documentary.

Copies of the documentary are not currently being sold.
