Dart Street murder suspect makes unexpected plea Friday

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A Marquette man charged originally with open murder made an unexpected plea Friday in circuit court.

Darrell Gutzman, 51, pleaded no contest to second degree murder. Gutzman is accused of stabbing Robin Anne Lampinen in a KI Sawyer home on Dart Street, last December.

The medical examiner in the case said Lampinen was stabbed 24 times.

A sentencing date has been scheduled for September 8th.
