Crystal Falls all-volunteer fire department seeks qualified volunteers

CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. (WLUC) - The Crystal Falls Fire Department is now an all-volunteer department. This transition was made after the last full-time fire chief retired back in March.

Being a volunteer firefighter means have to now make a lot of sacrifices, including time. Firefighters who are part of a volunteer fire department still have to go through months of training to perform the duties associated with fire protection.

For the CFFD, having more qualified volunteer is more important now than ever before.

“It’s very important; it serves the community, plus there's so many aspects of it that,” Crystal Falls Fire Chief Steven Fabbri said. “We have all different trades in our department. We have electricians, plumbers, carpenters...everything; all different trades, so it all works together as one group."
