MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - This upcoming weekend's mild weather is the perfect time to do some spring cleaning.
The city of Marquette compost site opens for the season on Monday, April 24.
Hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. The site is located on Lakeshore Boulevard, one block south of Hawley Street.
Any yard waste will be accepted, but brush is limited to one pickup load per day.
The city's curbside brush pickup also starts next week. It runs from April 24-April 28.
Material must be on the curbside prior to 7 a.m. of the scheduled pick up date.
The city's rubbish drop-off site opens for the season Saturday, April 29.
Hours of operation are Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. An additional date of Saturday, May 6 has been added to the schedule.
Residents who pay the "solid waste" fee on their monthly utility bills in Marquette are eligible to dispose of waste through this collection.
"Collection is basically the same," said Scott Cambensy, the supervisor of Marquette's Department of Public Works. "The rules of the site haven't changed. One important thing to remember for the rubbish drop-off, you need to have a drivers license and utility bill for entrance."
