Canal Run in need of volunteers

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Canal Run is just over a week away. The race is Saturday July 21st. Due to flood damage to M-203 the race will end at McClain State Park. Also new this year is the 2 mile fun run and walk, which begins at the Hancock Township Fire Department and also ends at McClain. Organizers are still looking for 40 more volunteers. Volunteers are especially needed to assist with flow at the finish line and with loading onto buses.

"This year because of all of the changes we have had to make because of the condition of M-203 everybody is going to need to park at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church which is right between Calumet and McClain State Park right on the highway. There is a ton of parking there, everybody is going to need to park there and then there are going to be buses that go back and forth starting at 6 a.m. right until the last runner is able to get back to their car," said organizing committee member Michael Babcock.

More than 500 people are already registered for the race. A link to register or volunteer is in the related links section of this article. Volunteers can also call Angela Luskin at 906-483-1153.
