MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Bill Schuette continued his visit in the UP by stopping by Presque Isle on Tuesday, May 30.
He hosted a barbeque for the people of Marquette and commented on both local and national issues.
In reference to Lt. Governor Brian Calley's announcement today about the need for part time legislators, Schuette says that there is a need for transparency in government, but also to make sure Michigan has full time paychecks.
Schuette also addressed the Line 5 issue and how changes will be made soon to the pipe line in the Great Lake States.
"Governor Synder has a commission which will reveal some options sometime in June, so I think we all look forward to seeing what the governor’s commission line 5 might recommend. Here’s the key, Line 5 days are numbered and that’s a fact," said Schuette.
Schuette also addressed the state's hard work with the crime victim approach on the issue of sexual assault kits.
