BIG BAY, Mich. (WLUC) - It's berry season in the UP and that prompted another annual Berry Bash in Big Bay.
For more than 20 years, St. Mary Catholic Church has sponsored this summer event where the parishioners bake and sell homemade pies and treats.
There was also a rummage sale where the church collected donations for the St. Mary's Guild.
They are an organization of women who serve the needs of the church and its wider community.
"The summers of course are sweet because the winters are so long," said Volunteer Jill Bevins. "We have such an abundance of berries, having a Berry Bash for us is a way of celebrating all of the goodness we have in our summer times up here."
Several hundred dollars were donated this year.
The church also holds an annual Christmas rummage sale in December.
