Bergman greets UP Honor Flight veterans in DC

WASHINGTON DC The Mission XII U.P. Honor Flight took off with more than 70 area veterans early Wednesday morning. Veterans received an outpouring of support and thanks from many people, including Congressman Jack Bergman...this visit came as a surprise to the veterans.

The congressman welcomed them at their first stop, which was the WWII Memorial. Representative Bergman said he wanted to pay tribute to these veterans on their trip to our nation's capitol.

"We can never honor them enough," Bergman said. "They stepped up when our country needed them most, and to be with them today to celebrate their seeing of the memorials here in D.C., to me, it's very emotional."

The veterans have since returned from the Honor Flight, which touched down around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
