Alger County Sheriff: Don't travel as wind, rain, power outages continue

MUNISING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Alger County Sheriff is asking everyone in the county to stay inside and not travel because of the amount of power lines and trees down.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sheriff Todd Brock says every fire department in the county is out working on downed lines, trees and associated problems. No injuries have been reported.

The sheriff says he will announce when he thinks it is safe to travel again. Brock expects travel conditions to remain bad for much of Tuesday.

The worst conditions were expected between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday. Along with heavy rain, wind gusts up to 59 mph were reported in Munising Tuesday morning, and 24 feet waves were reported on Lake Superior north of Munising.
