Bark River, MICH. (WLUC) - This weekend marks the 42nd year for the Bark River off road races.
This years races will feature more than a 100 drivers in a variety of classes including new classes now featuring side by sides.
Several local drivers will be participating in the racing scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from roughly ten thirty in the morning to seven in the evening. After the races on Saturday night music will be provided by Driver on the hill top stage.
Cost for the event is $25 a day or $40 for the weekend with kids 10 and under getting in free. And while over 750 of the 900 campsites are filled up there is still room for more folks to bring in campers and RVs.
Scott Kwarciany is a member of the Bark River Lions who put on the races.
"It's gotten to be a rather intense sport over the years. It's picked up a lot of national attention. Years ago when we were on ESPN and FOX sports and things like that. For a small community it's really nice to see something local in their own backyard make it on the national stage and I think that's a big draw for people."
The race put on by the Bark River Lions Club who has raised over half a million dollars for charity through involvement in the race.
