MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Native American Student Association of Northern Michigan University held a food tasting event at the Jacobetti Complex. Serving up foods like bison, wild rice, squash, and venison, it was an opportunity for the community to try some of the food the first settlers of the great lakes traditionally enjoyed. This event is an opportunity for different communities to come together.
“This being the 17th annual First Nations Food Taster it is a lot of work and so we really appreciate the whole community supporting us and coming out to enjoy this event,” said Biidaaban Reinhardt, the co-president of the Native American Student Association.
In addition to the food, there was also live music and raffle prizes.
