The Marquette Regional History Center Special Exhibit: Logging Marks

Event Dates and Times

11/22/2017 - 12/30/2017
Marquette Regional History Center, 145 W. Spring Street, Marquette
The Marquette Regional History Center Special Exhibit: Logging Marks
November 1—December 30, 2017
Logging was a large and powerful industry that shaped the landscape of our backyards and forests. Michigan law required logs to be marked on both ends to reduce the theft of timber. Rod Smith, education coordinator with the Michigan DNR, collected many of these log marks. Study these logs from around the Upper Peninsula and learn about the logging companies they represent. This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Rod Smith Family. Open during regular Museum Hours and included with admission. Please visit marquettehistory.org or call 906-226-3571 for more info.
