In Honor of the 100 Year Anniversary of Finnish Independence - Special Blue & White Lighting Contest

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd Awards being given to the best display that honors and celebrates Finnish Heritage. Display can have anything as long as it is related to Finland in some way, such as, Finnish customs, Folk art designs, flag and/or its people.

Entries have to be submitted by Friday, December 8th.

Judging will be the night of Tuesday, December 12th and/or Wednesday, December 13th with winners being notified by Thursday, December 14th.

Prizes being awarded: 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $150 and 3rd Place $100.
Prize monies were donated by Friends of the Finnish Heritage Committee.

The Marquette Regional History Center Special Exhibit: Logging Marks
November 1—December 30, 2017
Logging was a large and powerful industry that shaped the landscape of our backyards and forests. Michigan law required logs to be marked on both ends to reduce the theft of timber. Rod Smith, education coordinator with the Michigan DNR, collected many of these log marks. Study these logs from around the Upper Peninsula and learn about the logging companies they represent.
