Come to the UP Children's Museum with your child or toddler for a night of fun and learning about embracing others!

This event is for those of all abilities! Expert-led sensory playstations will be featured in addition to the usual wonders of the museum. There will be a low-stimulation area for those that need. Disability advocates and educators will be in attendance presenting a great opportunity for children to learn and ask questions about others with special needs in a safe environment! Live music throughout the evening will be playing. Food trucks will be parked outside for hungry tummies. Bring some cash for the raffle/auction which will feature a number of enticing baskets for kids and parents that you won't want to miss!

KIF1A related disorder causes a number of symptoms including vision impairment/blindness, seizures, muscle weakness or spasticity, developmental delays, and death. We are racing to find a cure for Sadie and others with this disease. Please visit kif1a.org for more information about our efforts.

The Marquette Regional History Center Special Exhibit: Logging Marks
November 1—December 30, 2017
Logging was a large and powerful industry that shaped the landscape of our backyards and forests. Michigan law required logs to be marked on both ends to reduce the theft of timber. Rod Smith, education coordinator with the Michigan DNR, collected many of these log marks. Study these logs from around the Upper Peninsula and learn about the logging companies they represent. The Ishpeming VFW Post 4573 invites the community to participate in the Toys for Tots Christmas program. You can bring any unwrapped toys to the post until December 10th this year. The post is open weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays at 4 p.m. Let's show the true spirit for Christmas by making is special for the children in our area that are in need.

"Pikkujoulu" (Little Christmas) at Ishpeming Elks Club

Wil Kilpela on accordion and Ken Holster on banjo and guitar will play for a "Little Christmas" dance on Sunday, December 3, from 2 to 5 PM at the Elks Club on Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming., sponsored by the League of Finnish-American Societies UP Chapter Finlandia Foundation Affiliate.

Admission is $5, and free to members of the LFAS. Anyone joining the League that day will also be admitted free. The dance is open to all.

In addition to music for dancing and listening, there will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and a mini-Tori with Finnish items of all kinds by Tanja Stanaway's Heart to Finland, and.baked goods by Janet Wisuri.

Refreshments of cardamom coffee bread and other goodies will be available, along with coffee and soft drinks. The Elk's bar will be open.

Membership dues may be paid at the meeting. Dues are $20 per year with the Suomi-USA magazine, and $10 per year without.
