The Marquette County Quilters’ Association is proud to present the bi-annual Autumn Comforts Quilt Show at Northern Michigan University’s (NMU) Great Lakes Rooms. This event will held Saturday October 21 from 10:00-5:00 p.m., and Sunday October 22, 2012 from 11:00-4:00 p.m. There will be over 250 quilts on display. Quilters from across the Marquette County region, as well as those from other areas will be proudly displaying a variety of quilts and related items. Antique-vintage quilts, traditional quilts, modern quilts, “charity” quilts offering a plethora of color and texture will adorn the halls and walls of NMU’s Great Lakes Rooms.

Assemble bags and labels at Wesley.

Saturday September 23, 10:00 a.m. – Noon (Start at Wesley)
Distribute KKW bags/donation instructions throughout neighborhoods. Lunch follows.

Saturday September 30, 10:00 a.m. – Noon (Start at Wesley)
Collect winter clothing donations throughout the neighborhoods. Snacks follow.

Thursday October 5, 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Set up tables and organized winter clothing at the Ishpeming Armory.

Saturday, October 7, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
Help with free shopping day and take down following at the Ishpeming Armory.

October 8 through November 3, Shopping for clothing items not available at the Armory day.

Rabbit Island Artist in Residence Exhibition

DeVos Art Museum, Marquette, MI
The Rabbit Island Residency, located on a remote island in Lake Superior, unofficially launched in 2010. For the last six years the museum has partnered with the Residency to present public programs and exhibitions featuring the artists in residence. The 2017 exhibition highlights the work of five artists who spent 2—4 weeks on the island between June and September 2016. This is the first year the artists have had nearly a full year to reflect and create work based on their experiences on the island. This year’s exhibition features visual artists Luce Choules (UK), Walter van Broekhuizen (NL) and the collaborative U.S.-based group of Jack Forinash, Kelly Gregory and Mary Rothlisberger. A full color, fully illustrated catalogue will be available, also featuring work by 2016 resident and writer, F. Daniel Rzicznek. The catalogue was designed by Edwin Robert Carter.
