Library Treasure Sale & Silent Auction

Are you a fan of estate sales and auctions? Drop by the Peter White Public Library to take advantage of our Library Treasure Sale and Silent Auction taking place this September.

The Peter White Public Library has been cleaning closets, and we will be offering items for sale. These are items which have been collecting dust in our closets, under desks and hidden away in various other nooks and crannies. If you like a good treasure hunt, you’ll want to be sure you visit the library!

Treasure Sale
The Library Treasure Sale will take place in the Business Reference Room on the upper floor of the library. This sale will be held Thursday, September 7 from 10am – 5pm; Friday, September 8 from 10am – 6pm; and Saturday, September 9 from 10am – 1pm. Don’t let the dust bunnies fool you. There are many collectibles included in this sale: china sets, a 24-carat gold-plated kazoo, statues, vases, and more!

Silent Auction
Through the month of September, the Peter White Public Library will display art, furniture, and other objects which will be sold as part of a fundraising silent auction. Visit the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of the library to view this exhibit. Items will be available for bid September 1st - September 29th.

Fourth annaul All day band jam

We will be holding our annual band Jam benefit. This years event will feature a full day (and night)of live music from more than a dozen local bands and musical artist. We will have bucket raffles and 50/50 drawings to benefit The Pigs-N-Heat Fire Relief Fund.

12th Annual Iron Oars Regatta

The Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club is hosting it's 12th Annual Iron Oars Regatta. Northern Michigan University crew will battle Michigan Technological University for the coveted Iron Oars trophy. The UP Rowing Club has invited other rowing clubs in Michigan to compete along the 3400 meter course from the west end to the east end of Teal Lake. Come watch the crews row singles, doubles, four and eight person boats. Both sweep rowing and sculling. Admission is free and there will be concessions in the Lakeview Elementary School.

Calumet Players Fall Musical - "Sister Act"

Historic Calumet Theater, Calumet
The Calumet Players Fall musical this year is "Sister Act" with music by Allan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner. The musical is the same as the motion picture "Sister Act" and the story is the same, with new music.

The performances will take place at the Historic Calumet Theater, Calumet, on September 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and September 17, at 2:00 p.m. Ticket price is $15. Explore Tech: Engineering Makes a World of Difference Exhibit

Peter White Public Library Kids’ Room. Adults and children are encouraged to come check out this “Explore Tech” interactive display between August 17th through October 11th! There will be an interactive computer kiosk with engineering games, informative display panels, and a Discovery Table with Cublet Robots, LEGO and Duplos, Keva Planks Brain Teaser, Snap Circuits and more! Come explore engineering with us, and check out how engineers work in our community through the “Faces of Engineering” wall that will display pictures of community engineers at work.
