Aspirus Keweenaw Light the Night Fun Run/Walk

Light the Night kicks off at 7:15 p.m. with a free 1K for children. The 5K Fun Run/Walk follows at 7:45 p.m. The route begins and ends in the courtyard at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium. Plenty of glow sticks and color blasts (optional) will be on hand for those who want to go all-out. Register online at through Sept. 14, or from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the hospital courtyard the day of the race. Registration is $25, and includes a t-shirt, glow sticks and optional color blast. For students ages 11 – 18, registration is $15.

Knights of Columbus Council 1541 Spaghetti Dinner

The Knights of Columbus Council 1541 will host a Italian-style spaghetti supper on Saturday, September 16th, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Featured will be a traditional spaghetti dinner, with garlic bread, tossed salad, sweets, beverage and your choice of either meatballs or chicken.

The cost is $9 per person, $5 for children under 8 years old.

The proceeds from the meal will be given to the West Marquette County Food Banks. This year the need is great, so please HELP us support our local area. | 443619353

Are you a fan of estate sales and auctions? Drop by the Peter White Public Library to take advantage of our Library Treasure Sale and Silent Auction taking place this September.

The Peter White Public Library has been cleaning closets, and we will be offering items for sale. These are items which have been collecting dust in our closets, under desks and hidden away in various other nooks and crannies. If you like a good treasure hunt, you’ll want to be sure you visit the library!

Treasure Sale
The Library Treasure Sale will take place in the Business Reference Room on the upper floor of the library. This sale will be held Thursday, September 7 from 10am – 5pm; Friday, September 8 from 10am – 6pm; and Saturday, September 9 from 10am – 1pm. Don’t let the dust bunnies fool you. There are many collectibles included in this sale: china sets, a 24-carat gold-plated kazoo, statues, vases, and more!

Silent Auction
Through the month of September, the Peter White Public Library will display art, furniture, and other objects which will be sold as part of a fundraising silent auction. Visit the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of the library to view this exhibit. Items will be available for bid September 1st - September 29th.

The Calumet Players Fall musical this year is "Sister Act" with music by Allan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner. The musical is the same as the motion picture "Sister Act" and the story is the same, with new music.
