Tasty Reads--Savory Sweet

Event Dates and Times

9/12/2017 - Starts: 12:00 PM - Ends: 1:00 PM
Peter White Public Library, Shiras Room, Marquette MI 49855
Tasty Reads, a book group for readers who like to cook, will focus on Savory Sweet: Simple Preserves from a Northern Kitchen by Beth Dooley at their Tuesday, September 12 meeting at noon in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room.

In Savory Sweet, Dooley takes us into Mette Nielsen’s Danish kitchen where she focuses on the fresh ingredients of the season and simplifies the preserving process. No hot water baths or pressure cookers needed; primarily chilling and freezing techniques are used. Given the short growing season in Marquette, these recipes and techniques are invaluable.

Share your thoughts about the book and a recipe inspired by it. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4303.

The Peter White Public Library has been cleaning closets, and we will be offering items for sale. These are items which have been collecting dust in our closets, under desks and hidden away in various other nooks and crannies. If you like a good treasure hunt, you’ll want to be sure you visit the library!

Treasure Sale
The Library Treasure Sale will take place in the Business Reference Room on the upper floor of the library. This sale will be held Thursday, September 7 from 10am – 5pm; Friday, September 8 from 10am – 6pm; and Saturday, September 9 from 10am – 1pm. Don’t let the dust bunnies fool you. There are many collectibles included in this sale: china sets, a 24-carat gold-plated kazoo, statues, vases, and more!

Silent Auction
Through the month of September, the Peter White Public Library will display art, furniture, and other objects which will be sold as part of a fundraising silent auction.
