DocuMonday--The Beatles: Eight Days a Week: The Touring Years

DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2016 documentary The Beatles: Eight Days a Week: The Touring Years on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.

Directed by Ron Howard, this film covers the Beatles’ career from 1963 to 1966, the height of their touring years. Showing interviews, concert clips, and stories, it documents the rise of Beatlemania and the impact that fame had on the Fab Four. Nominated for numerous awards, it won the 2016 Critics Choice Documentary Award for best music documentary and a 2017 Grammy for the best music film. If runs for 1 hour 46 minutes.

Library Treasure Sale & Silent Auction

Are you a fan of estate sales and auctions? Drop by the Peter White Public Library to take advantage of our Library Treasure Sale and Silent Auction taking place this September.

The Peter White Public Library has been cleaning closets, and we will be offering items for sale. These are items which have been collecting dust in our closets, under desks and hidden away in various other nooks and crannies. If you like a good treasure hunt, you’ll want to be sure you visit the library!

Treasure Sale
The Library Treasure Sale will take place in the Business Reference Room on the upper floor of the library. This sale will be held Thursday, September 7 from 10am – 5pm; Friday, September 8 from 10am – 6pm; and Saturday, September 9 from 10am – 1pm. Don’t let the dust bunnies fool you. There are many collectibles included in this sale: china sets, a 24-carat gold-plated kazoo, statues, vases, and more!

Silent Auction
Through the month of September, the Peter White Public Library will display art, furniture, and other objects which will be sold as part of a fundraising silent auction. Visit the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of the library to view this exhibit. Items will be available for bid September 1st - September 29th.

Explore Tech: Engineering Makes a World of Difference Exhibit

Peter White Public Library Kids’ Room. Adults and children are encouraged to come check out this “Explore Tech” interactive display between August 17th through October 11th! There will be an interactive computer kiosk with engineering games, informative display panels, and a Discovery Table with Cublet Robots, LEGO and Duplos, Keva Planks Brain Teaser, Snap Circuits and more! Come explore engineering with us, and check out how engineers work in our community through the “Faces of Engineering” wall that will display pictures of community engineers at work. UP SERA Fall Luncheon

The Upper Peninsula Chapter #16 of the State Employee Retirees Association (SERA) will hold its Fall luncheon on Monday, September 11, at noon, at the Highland Golf Club, located seven miles west of Escanaba on US-2/41.

All members and guests are encouraged to attend. It is very important to make reservations for the luncheon by Friday, September 2, by calling Frank Berres at 906-786-2965 or Arlene Paulson at 906-786-7199.

If you are retired state employee or a current employee considering retirement, give some thought to becoming a SERA member and come to the luncheon to enroll. The $20.00 per year dues is still a bargain with four newsletters a year the provide pension, healthcare, election and assorted requests to our legislators information.

Our program will feature visits from a redistricting expert, Time Morgan (candidate), Arva Overton (BC/BS Rep.) and State Representative Scott Dianda. The raffle ticket winners will be selected, prize drawings, 50/50 drawing and your opportunity to meet with members while enjoying a delicious luncheon (ice cream included).
