On Wednesday, January 24, the Peter White Public Library will host a concert by the Circle of Friends as part of its Building Love: Imagine series at 7:00 pm in the library’s community room.

Led by Mary Burtch and Vicki Lockwood, Circle of Friends is a group of local women who began singing with their children and with each other at Peace Camp over 30 years ago. They have been singing all kinds of songs even since, but for this concert they will focus on songs from around the world.

NARFE Chapter 1900 Meeting

Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga in Marquette.
Marie Ross, care counselor for the Marquette area Alzheimer’s Association, will speak at the January 24 meeting of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) Chapter 1900.
She will discuss Alzheimer’s Disease, its warning signs, care options, etc. The Alzheimer’s Association is the official charity of NARFE, receiving donations from the national, state and local levels of the organization.
The NARFE program will begin at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga in Marquette. Members may enter from Spring Street, behind City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.
NARFE Chapter 1900 includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information please call 906-475-0362.

The recently re-established Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force (UPHTTF) has teamed together with the Department of Justice and Michigan State Police to bring Human Trafficking Community Awareness to the UP during Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Featured speakers include, Leslie Hagen from the Department of Justice and local MSP Community Troopers.

There will be time for Q & A after each presentation and a brief invite to any participants to join the UPHTTF by the current Task Force Group Leader/Administrator Marlene Mottes Victim Advocate from the Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office, Western District of Michigan, Marquette Office.
