MARQUETTE -- Monday night the Marquette School Board dealt with the reality of state budget cuts.

Superintendent Jon Hartwig addressed the board about the financial situation.  The district is expecting to see a one million dollar funding cut from the state.

They're currently relying heavily on their $4.6 million general fund budget.

The administration says the loss of money would have a big impact on the district.

"What's coming out of Lansing is really exasperating and is making it that much bigger of an issue sooner in the planning process, so really the press is on all around the state to try to figure out what we can do to either bring revenue or certainly cut expenses," said Hartwig.

The school board is planning a November 10 workshop to discuss what needs to be done to maintain their current programs.
