ISHPEMING TWP. -- NICE Community Schools in Ishpeming Township reopened their doors to students Monday.
The district was closed for three days last week because of several students out sick with the flu.
Monday, only nine percent of students were absent. Compare that with last Tuesday, when 22 percent of their students were out sick.
Now faculty and students are taking precautions to stay healthy.
"Well, I only came to school for one day and then fell to the epidemic and got the flu myself, but there's just a lot of kids missing and school was just...everybody was sick," said Justin Farley, Westwood senior.
"All the teachers have hand sanitizer in their rooms, so I'm using hand sanitizer a lot, washing my hands, and making sure to cough in my elbow and not on my hand," added senior Courtney Johnson.
At Aspen Ridge Middle School last week, 29 percent of students were out sick. Monday, that's down to six percent.
