IRON MOUNTAIN -- Public areas like schools and hospitals across the country are taking precautions for the H1N1 flu virus.

The Veteran Affairs Hospital in Iron Mountain is no different.

The VA is working with the health department and Dickinson Memorial Hospital to set visitation restrictions.

The move is meant to prevent the flu from spreading to patients and staff.

These precautions are nothing new to the VA.

"Well, even during the regular flu season there are often restrictions invoked," said Steve Beauchamp, VA Emergency Manager.  "This kind of goes along; it's a little more high risk, but it's definitely beneficial to protect the facility."

The restrictions include no one with any flu-like symptoms, no one under 18, and two visitors per patient at a time.
