Abby joined the TV6 news team in January 2013 as the Iron Mountain Bureau Reporter.
She was born in Campinas, Brazil, but after 6 years her family moved back to Minnesota. The majority of her growing-up years, however, were spent in Ashland, WI where her family owns and operates a Bed and Breakfast. This is where she fell in love with the Northland and the atmosphere of a smaller community.
Abby studied Electronic Media Communication at Northwestern College, a private Christian school in Saint Paul, MN. There, she gained valuable TV experience in being the news director and lead anchor for the campus station. In addition to her Spanish and Bible minors, she had a chance to study in Israel, where her interest in international and national news was expanded.
She received the Wisconsin Broadcaster's Association Scholarship Award in 2011 and also worked as the Deputy Finance Director for a Congressman of WI in the 2012 election. She has a real passion for small-town communities, and is excited to discover the stories within them.
As a very honest reporter, Abby admits that even though she works out, she doesn't enjoy running at the gym, and would much rather be talking with locals over a fresh doughnut and cup of coffee.
She is looking forward to living and reporting in the U.P. and learning how to make the perfect pasty.
